The landing at Fort harison used to be the elks country club and was my very first job as a teenager. This is also the site of the original Fort Harrison from the war of 1812. No signs of the fort left except for wooden beams within the landing. There also some soldiers that were displaced when they dug the pool or a least that's what I have been told. These soldiers have been moved 50 or 60 yards to the south of the pool and a memorial can be seen. There is also a large rock cumemerarting the fort location. The pavilions that can be seen by the river are not part of the fort. There is a golf corse here that is still operational. Not sure if the landing still serves dinner or not
Very nice park. Went for July 4th weekend fireworks show. They had a band, food trucks, bounce houses, and put on a nice presentation. They added music and lasers to the fireworks. Looks like a nice community park and golf course.
We attended a wedding recently and I was shocked that so many plates were left on the table and it appeared no one was helping. The older bartender was so very rude and many guests complained about her. The bride was extremely embarrassed for her guests. Not a good place to have your reception.
Great location for parties. Friendly and considerate staff. Highly recommended.
