Heads up, we will not be going back to Long Horn Steak House in Terre Haute. I tried to call at 5 for seating for 6, and they told me they only do call ahead seating if there is already a wait, and suggested that I call or come in 30 minutes before we want to eat. So I arrive 30 minutes before the rest of my party, and a few things happened that left a bad taste in my mouth.
Great food and service. However, they forget the first rule of customer satisfaction: If you have tables open, do not make people wait standing up. They have some seating in the waiting area, but not enough when very busy. We watched while up to 5 tables were clean and ready but not being seated. Also, we watched several people come in who were seated before us. Possibly, some of them had reservations?? But when it appears to customers that not all tables are utilized and others go ahead of people waiting on their feet for 30 minutes, this is not good! Also, they do not seem to be well prepared for busy nights. Not only did it take an inordinate period of time to be seated, it also took a lot of time to get a hamburger and french fries meal and a chicken salad on the table. Under pressure, these folks have a lot to learn. Had I not been feeling terrible last night and didn't want to go somewhere else, we would have left when the empty table situation got up to 5 and no seating!!!!!!
This was our second time going here, and it was as bad as the first. Our server was inattentive, took forever to bring simple things like lemon for our waters and a bottle of steak sauce. I ordered my steak medium well and it came bleeding on my plate. Another in our party ordered grilled shrimp, which came out cold. When the manager wanted to "make it up to us" with free desserts, we told him we weren't interested in desserts, that two of our party could not have sugar and we don't generally eat dessert for health reasons. One of our party was celebrating his birthday as asked for a dessert. After another LONG wait (at least 20 mins after we paid the checks) he came out with a huge tray with bowls of ice cream for us and my brothers dessert. They didn't even LISTEN when we refused dessert the first time! Definitely will not be going back.
I had a wonderful experience from the time of walking in the door until leaving. Every staff member was warm and friendly. The food was delicious and came just as I had ordered it. Definitely would recommend and return to this lovely establishment.
3- at this point, to be honest I'm getting pissed. Instead of being told politely and being treated with respect, i was approached with condescension and accusations. One employee told me (his words) that it "wasn't fair to the other people who thought to call ahead." And that if there isn't a list to put me on then I can't "cut ahead of everyone else" like that.
Not all that happy here. Been there three times since they've been in town. Good food and service but can only give them a three star

I said that I had called ahead an hour before, and that I was told that they couldn't put me on a list. Okay. Except I called an hour and a half before I wanted to eat. They asked who I talked to, but I didn't catch their name. They ask my name in case they put it down. It's not there.
So I understand that I choose to shave half of my head, and that I choose to have piercings, and that I choose to have brightly colored hair, but I am a good person and my money spends.
1- I am fairly positive that they judged me on my appearance from the get go. It's something that I'm used to and I typically ignore, but they we're rude and dismissive straight from when I said hello.
